Dr. Aftab Mohammad Azad

Senior Consultant in Emergency Medicine/Sports Medicine | Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, The College of Medicine - Qatar University | Regional Director Middle East & Site Director, Canadian PoC Ultrasound Society (CPoCUS).

Dr. Aftab Mohammad Azad, who joined HMC in 2003, is a distinguished emergency and sports medicine physician. After completing his Arab Board in Emergency Medicine in 2010, he graduated from McGill University's EM residency program in 2015 and pursued an Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship at Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Azad has been teaching Point of Care Ultrasound since 2013 and became the first Qatari to graduate from a North American Emergency Medicine program in 2016. Currently, he is a Senior Consultant at HMC, the Chairman of Emergency Medicine overseeing multiple departments, and holds several leadership roles including Director of Emergency Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound. His contributions extend to educational roles at Weill Cornell Medical College Qatar and his election to the Board of Directors for the Gulf Federation of Emergency Medicine and CPOUS. He is instrumental in establishing new emergency medicine fellowship programs at HMC, enhancing both patient care and medical education.
