Dr. Andrew Nelson

Principal Member of the Technical Staff, Research and Development, Chemistry | Global Chemical and Biological Security Program | Center for Global Security and Cooperation

Dr. Andrew Nelson is a Principal Member of the Technical Staff in the Global Chemical and Biological Security Group at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. He holds a Master of Science (MS) in Environmental Science and Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines, and a Master of Public Health (MPH) and PhD in Human Toxicology from the University of Iowa. Andrew joined Sandia National Laboratories in September 2016, where he has focused is on promoting peaceful uses of chemicals. In 2022 Andrew became a Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT). He is a frequent contributor to efforts by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), INTERPOL, and other international associations to eradicate chemical weapons.
