Dr. Vikas Kapil

Dr. Vikas Kapil is the Chief Medical Officer and Associate Director for Science at the CDC's Center for Global Health. He oversees science quality and research programs for global public health activities across 60+ country offices. Previously, he held roles at CDC's National Center for Environmental Health & Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

Dr. Kapil is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Michigan State University, an M.P.H. from The University of Michigan, and completed residency training in Emergency Medicine and Occupational and Environmental Medicine. His research interests include environmental and occupational lung disease, environmental toxicology, climate change and health, mass casualty event preparedness, and health systems improvement in low-resource settings.
