Prof. Kavinda Dayasiri
Prof. Kavinda Chandimal Dayasiri is a board-certified paediatrician, academic, and medical educator with over 15 years of experience in clinical care, teaching, and research. Currently serving as a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, Prof. Dayasiri has established himself as a leader in paediatric medicine, with special expertise in toxicology, emergency care, and paediatrics.
Prof. Dayasiri’s illustrious career is marked by numerous awards and accolades. He was honoured as the Most Outstanding Young Researcher in Medical and Dental Sciences by the Committee of Vice Chancellors and Directors (CVCD) of Sri Lanka in 2023. He also received the Doctor of the Year Award from the Oxford School of Paediatrics in the United Kingdom in 2018, recognizing his clinical excellence during his tenure as a Clinical Fellow at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. His research contributions have been globally acknowledged, earning him the Best Oral Presentation Award at the Asia Pacific Medical Toxicology Association meeting in 2024, Best Oral Presentation Award at the Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health meeting in 2017 and the prestigious Dr. Gamini Karunarathne Award for excellence in pediatric research in Sri Lanka.
In addition to his clinical practice, Prof. Dayasiri is an accomplished researcher and author, having published over 100 scientific articles in indexed journals and authored several books, including "Case Studies in Paediatric Toxicology" and "MCQs in Paediatric Emergency Medicine." His research interests encompass pediatric toxicology, emergency medicine, and communication skills training. He has also been a resource person for over 50 medical workshops and conferences, actively shaping the training and education of future pediatricians.
