Dr. Peter Akpunonu
Assistant Professor, University of Kentucky and Kentucky Poison Center, United States
Dr. Akpunonu is an emergency medicine physician specializing in medical toxicology. He trained at
the University of Kansas and Oregon Health & Science University. He currently serves as the
Medical Director of the Kentucky Poison Center, the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medicine Program,
and the Radiation Injury Treatment Network at the University of Kentucky. His clinical interests
include poisonings, environmental exposures, novel psychoactive substances, envenomations, and
hyperbaric medicine. Dr. Akpunonu is active in research and education, presenting at national and
international conferences.
