Dr. Tharwat EL Zahran
Dr. El Zahran is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and a medical toxicologist at the
American University of Beirut Medical Center. Within the AUBMC Department of Emergency
Medicine, she fulfills the role of Medical Director for the emergency department and concurrently
serves as the Co-director of the Toxicology Service. In a collaborative capacity, she also serves as
an adjunct associate professor within the Department of Medical Toxicology at Emory University in
Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Having earned her medical doctor degree from the American University of
Beirut medical center in 2011, Dr. Zahran completed her residency in emergency medicine at
AUBMC. She then pursued a two-year medical toxicology fellowship at Emory University and CDC.
She then joined AUBMC in 2018.
